How do I become a Home Care Provider with APC?

At APC, we require standard Provider attendant to be at least 18 years of age and have a valid ID, such as a state-issued ID, Driver’s License, Social Security card, or work permit. Providers must also pass a background check and not be listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry or in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) employability records. Those applying as child Providers need a high school diploma, references, and proof of experience in this capacity. 

 

What kinds of tasks should I be able to perform as an APC Provider? 

 

Working as a Provider requires a specific set of physical, mental, experiential, and emotional skills and abilities for you to satisfactorily assist and provide the utmost level of comfort for those in your care, such as the following: 

 

Experience as a homemaker or attendant with experience in care of the elderly or the disabled, including completing tasks such as daily living activities, shopping, household duties, and the purchase and preparation of food 

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish 

 

Excellent comprehension and reasoning abilities for the safety of those in your care 

 

The ability to exercise patience, understanding, tact, respect, and understanding of people of different races, cultures, abilities, and backgrounds
